Crystal

I was RAST’s Hon. Secretary in 1997, HS1YL was the president.  We went to the IARU III conference in Beijing, the capital city of China.  That was the first time of the agreement that, among the 5 days of serious meeting, the host should arrange the Thursday for a trip.  Chen Ping, BA1HAM the Hon. Secretary of CRSA leaded us to China Wall, and many other palaces.

All the places are amazing.  The China wall was so high, large, and long that it was hard to believe that it was built by man power thousands of years.. Love and sorrow of departing, lives and death.. how many of them…. I wondered.

We then went to Summer Palace, the place where Queen Mother Ci Xi spent her time.  The place was very pretty.  On the way back to our bus there were many souvenir vendors calling out what they were selling.

A few of them were selling various styles of pretty crystal for decoration.  They were shouting..
“Crystal!!  Crystal!!”
One ham from ARRL turned his head to them and shouted back..
“What Frequency???”

All the vendors stopped calling and astonishingly looked at our roar of laughing..
